I take design personally.
I get mad at bad design.
I venerate good design.
But what is good design?
Above all else, good design is not for the designer, but for the client. Not because the client is the one holding the purse strings, but because it is the client that will be flying under the flag that is made by the designer. The design work must suit the unique combination of needs and limitations that each client brings to the table. Included in this is what the client wants to convey, the medium in which it needs to be conveyed, and the demographic of who they need to convey it to.
Thus, the professional and practical needs of each individual client informs the design choices of individual projects far more than design trends or fashions.
